I had an echocardiogram today, why did they place the probe on my neck and stomach?

When they put the probe on your neck they were looking down on your heart, and looking up at your heart when they put it on your stomach. It helps give a clearer idea of how your heart is doing rather than looking straight on. Also they were checking your aorta and carotid arteries(if they checked both sides of your neck) but if they place the probe just at the base of your neck at a downward angle they are checking your heart from above.
