Why should the U.S public bother voting if the electoral college can conspire and elect whom they want ?

You're right that the Electoral College is an antequated concept that should be terminated. Nevertheless, every eligible American should exercise his franchise, for whatever it's worth, because if you fail to participate you run the risk of being controlled by your worst enemies.
