Why do people say America is founded on Christian values when there is no democracy in the New Testament?

Though I do believe MOST people TRY to live by the Word of God, those who are Christian, those who are not, TRY to live a good life, and MOST succeed, I have NEVER thought nor believed this country was founded on much of anything other than greed... think about it !!! go in peace... God bless
