Why does the nfl label a player the best after one season?

like revis,chris johnson,shaun alexander, larry fitzgerald and a lot more players. then they take credit from players who were the best for years, like nnamdi asomugha, steven jackson, reggie wayne and so on. those players were the best for years and nobody noticed them instead they crown guys like revis after one year.
